The Bank of Uganda has reportedly fallen victim to a major cyber heist, with hackers stealing an estimated $16 million (approximately UGX 60 billion). The stolen funds were allegedly transferred to foreign accounts in Asia and Europe.

Sources suggest that a Southeast Asian hacking group known as "Waste" may be behind the attack. While the Bank of Uganda has not yet issued an official statement, an investigation is underway. Top officials are expected to be questioned by police and the Auditor General as part of the probe.
